Semester Activities

2015/2016 FIRST SEMESTER ACTIVITIES.

To bridge the deep rooted apathy that has existed for the pass years, the 2015/2016 academic promises to be different. Educative, professional and entertaining programmes have been earmarked to whip up the interest of all members in GRASAG activities. The programmes for the semester are:

  1. 1.      FRESHERS’ ORIENTATION

Every year, GRASAG organises orientation for all her new members. This program is aimed at providing the needed information to our new members. Information is keen in any organisation. Again, ignorance of the law will never constitute a mitigating factor when applying sanctions. During orientation, the association invites people who matter in the day to day running of the university. These include but not limited to the Office of the Dean of Graduate School, Office of the Dean of Students,  university health services directorate, Security services, examinations and students affairs units, university information technology services(UITS) and many more.

GRASAG recognises the role of research in postgraduate studies. However, research training is empirical to the successful completion of postgraduate course.  this year, for the first time, the association intends to train her members on software packages available for research.

This training is critical, since KNUST has adopted an international approach to research work. Plagiarism remains a serious academic crime in the university. this has motivated the association this academic year to take our members through the basic software tools. Students this academic year would be group in faculties and colleges where applicable to be given the necessary training.

Seasoned and experienced resource persons from the University library, the E-Resource Section , currently known as the RESEARCH COMMONS would be engaged.

The program is normally designed to touch on all aspects of postgraduate students’ life academics, professional, economical, spiritual, relationship, legal and health.

The twist and dynamics this year promise to be exciting and educative. Distinguished guests who have excelled in their fields of endeavours are expected to grace the occasion.

GRASAG socialising has been daunted as the biggest and finest socialising that is organised on the campus of KNUST. During this time, postgraduate students from all walk of life come together to eat, drink and have fun.

The socialising is normally organised late in the semester after tiring academic work. However, it is always organised some few weeks to exams so as to take away the stress of the semester. This exercise is normally organised to help us prepare our mind, body and soul to face the semester exam with vim and vigour.

The organising committee that is tasked with the organisation of the event has always been up to the task. This year’s team is poised to action and determined to bring innovation to the event.

The games alongside the life band music performance have always been great. Lecturers and Staff of the University have always participated in this socialising. This year, people who matter in the running of the university are expected to be in attendance to fraternise and socialise with students.
