Welfare Committee

Overview 

The Welfare Committee is a dedicated body established to address the welfare needs of GRASAG-KNUST members. It is chaired by the Vice President and includes representatives from each college, members from each IDL sector, and the Gender Commissioner. Additionally, a Secretary is appointed by the Vice President in consultation with the Executive Committee.

Before assuming office, all members of the Welfare Committee are required to take an Oath of Office and an Oath of Secrecy. This ensures their commitment to ethical practices and confidentiality in their roles.

The Welfare Committee plays a vital role in promoting the well-being of graduate students, addressing their concerns, and fostering a supportive environment for academic and personal success.

Responsibilities 

  • The Welfare Committee shall investigate cases relating to students boarding and lodging, health and sanitation services, financial condition and report its findings to the Senate for necessary action to be taken.
  • The Welfare Committee shall be in charge of the Student Management Board for the GRASAG BUA WUNUA Fund.
  • The Welfare Committee shall perform any other duties delegated by Senate or/and Executive Council.
  • The welfare committee shall liaise with the Gender Commission and in consultation with the Executive Committee to organize programs to promote gender rights, health, education, and other programs of interest for members of GRASAG-KNUST.
  • The Welfare Committee shall perform duties stipulated in the policy document of the fund.
