Transport Committee

Overview 

The Transport Committee is responsible for managing all transport-related activities of the association, ensuring graduate students have access to reliable transport services across all KNUST centers. The  Chairperson and members of the Committee are appointed by the President in consultation with the Executive Council and the prior approval of the Senate.

The Transport Committee Chairperson chairs the Committee and includes representatives from each college, two members from the IDL centers, and one representative from the International Students Association (ISA), ensuring diverse and comprehensive representation.

Before assuming office, all members of the Transport Committee are required to take an Oath of Office and an Oath of Secrecy, as outlined in the association’s Constitution. This commitment underscores their dedication to ethical conduct and confidentiality in fulfilling their roles.

This Committee plays a crucial role in coordinating transportation services to support the academic and administrative needs of graduate students effectively.

 

Responsibilities 

  • The Transport Committee is responsible for the operation of commercial vehicles for the association.
  • The Transport Committee in Consultation with the Legal Affairs Commission and the Welfare Committee drafts and updates the GRASAG-KNUST bus usage document. This determines how the various buses of the association would be used for programs, hiring, etc.
  • The Transport Committee receives all applications for the use of all transport facilities of the association.
  • The Transport Committee is responsible for the arrangement of student transport services outside campus.
  • The Transport Committee coordinates all transport arrangements of groups traveling under the association’s sponsorship
  • The Transport Committee performs any other duty assigned to it by the Executive Council and or the Senate.
  • The Transport Committee, in consultation with the Welfare Committee, ensures the usage, management, and maintenance of all the association’s transport facilities.
  • The Transport Committee is the sole committee responsible for delivering the report on the state of transport affairs of the association to the Senate when called upon.
