LEGAL AFFAIRS COMMISION

Overview 

The Legal Affairs Commission is a dedicated office established to address all legal matters concerning GRASAG-KNUST. It is headed by the Legal Affairs Commissioner, supported by two (2) Deputy Commissioners, who are preferably law students and appointed by the President in consultation with the Executive Committee.

The Deputy Commissioners assist the Commissioner in the execution of their duties, ensuring efficient management of the Commission's responsibilities.

Before assuming office, all members of the Legal Affairs Commission are required to take an Oath of Office and an Oath of Secrecy.

This Commission plays a vital role in ensuring legal compliance, offering legal advice, and safeguarding the constitutional integrity of the association.

 

Responsibilities 

  • The Legal Affairs Commissioner serves as an Attorney-General of GRASAG-KNUST and is the principal legal adviser to all the organs of the association.
  • The Legal Affairs Commission represents GRASAG in all legal disputes.
  • The Legal Affairs Commission discharges such other duties of a legal nature as may be referred to or assigned to them by the President, Senate, and Executive Council or imposed on it by the association’s constitution or any other law.
  • The Commission is responsible for the initiation and conduct of all prosecutions of all offenses against GRASAG-KNUST on the instruction of the Senate or any person acting under the authority of the Executive Council.
